The last one week had been one of my busiest week ever after coming to Thanjavur. Thatha and ammamma took me and aama to lots of temples and to one of their friend's house too. The one thing I love about temples is I am allowed to walk barefoot. As you can see, wearing shoes/sandals has always been in my " I detest it forever " list.
I was excited to go to the temples. Lots has to be done, it all starts with mommy packing my bag with all sorts of toys, outfits, diapers and snacks. And into the trip, I make sure I drive her crazy by asking her for THE TOY that she didn't bring that day ( Here "THE TOY" changes according to my many moods :) ) Also ammamma packs a huge basket for the temple with flowers, coconuts etc. I tried carrying it for her and tell you what, thats one heavy thing..woof !! Not forgetting to mention, mommy and ammamma always make a big fuss over me, dressing me up in all colors of kurtas and pajamaas. Aama thinks I always walk a different walk with the pajamaa n kurta on me. I don't really mind the outfit as long as I am allowed to run around and explore all by myself. Then comes the best part - The car drive. I am allowed to sit in the front passenger seat along with aama. I feel special sitting next to thatha as he allows me to try my hand at all kinds of knobs-I can honk, turn the steering, change the CD in the player, open the dash box, change the temperature settings etc..Man, there are lots of stuff to try that I could spend a whole day in there.
Of the many temples that we went, I was awed by angaalamman temple in particular..It had a huge flight of steps..Steps always allure me. I never get bored going up and down, over and over and over and.. adding to the fun, this steps had no side rails
Delighted at my prospective of trying many different ways at scaling the steps, I freed myself from mommy's tight grip and there I was already up two steps, shouting with glee my usual " Aaatam, paaatam ".. I was fully engrossed with my stair climbing , I didnt notice aama signalling to some one and thats when came the word " Adi ( I will beat you in tamil ) " It was not my mommy or ammamma trying to control me.. with mounds of surprise, I turned around to see who it was and there she was, sitting by the side of the steps with a prayer book - a maami who instead of praying had been busy watching me.Once we made eye contact, she said "Adi " again signalling me to be quiet..what do you think I would have done ??
a) cry and run to mommy
b) stare at her
c)Ignore her
d) laugh at her
You are right !!! - she got me laughing.. I was laughing my usual continuous noisy laugh and indeed I have a very infectious laugh, everyone at the temple were smiling and laughing. Mommy's wasted try to get me under control through someone we don't even know.. Better luck next time mommy :)
Adi - This word caught me right away. Adi Adi adiiiiiiii...I was continuously saying it inbetween my laughing and from then on thats my word all the time. When mommy asked me " what do you mean by adi ? " I gave her one quick adi , shouting at the top of my voice "Addddddddiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii "
who wants an Adddiiiiiiiiii from me ?? anybody ?? :)
